Subclass 476 – Skilled-Recognised Graduate Visa

This visa allows the recent engineering graduates who have completed their degrees from the specified educational institutions to live, study and work in Australia for usually the duration of 18 months.

Skilled Recognised Graduate visa is granted to fresh engineering graduates. They can live, study and work in Australia for more than 18 months. For visa 476, you must have completed a degree or higher education from a recognized institution within the last 2 years.

Washington Accord

Washington Accord is an agreement between different countries to recognize or accredit the engineering degrees of specific engineering institutions. Engineering qualifications recognized by different signatories are considered equally qualified by each signatory and do not need any further assessment.

Processing Time

The Department of Home Affairs processes applications for Australian visas. Due to Covid-19, it hasn’t provided any specific processing time for Skilled Recognized Graduate visa 476. However, you must submit complete documents with your visa application.

Eligibility

Applicant must:

Be under the age of 31
Have completed one of the following higher qualification degrees in the past two years from the specified educational institution under Washington accord:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree
- Doctoral degree
- Postgraduate diploma
Have graduated in of the following engineering disciplines:
- Civil engineering
- Chemical engineering
- Environment engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Electronic engineering
- Structural engineering
- Mining and Material engineering
- Mechanical, Production and Plant engineering
Have not previously held the subclass 476 or Visa 485
Have a passport from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand,
or the Republic of Ireland, or must prove English proficiency by giving one of the following tests to secure the required score:
- IELTS
- TOEFL
- Cambridge Advanced English
- PTE Academic
- Occupational English Test

Cost

Skilled Recognised Graduate visa 476 costs AUD 410. There’re separate charges for each family member who applies with the main applicant.

You also have to pay other charges for biometrics, health checks and police certificates.

Stay Period

A Skilled Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476) is a temporary visa. It allows you to stay for up to 18 months in Australia.
